INTRINSICALLY SAFE BARRIER FOR USE WITH CLASS 1, DIVISION 1/ZONE 0,1 SENSORS
Intrinsically safety barriers from CTC limit the energy that is supplied to a circuit and protect hazardous areas from excess energy. By limiting energy to a safe level, intrinsically safe circuits prevent the ignition of potentially explosive atmospheres.
Selecting intrinsic safety barriers requires an analysis of specifications and approvals. Performance specifications include operating temperature and maximum number of channels (I/O). Maximum open circuit voltage (VOC) and maximum short circuit current (ISC) are also important considerations.
